The next step is submitting demos and media kits to the A%26amp;R Department of record companies. There are many websites where you can upload your songs without having to pay.

Most major record companies do not listen to unsolicited demos so you should concentrate on smaller labels. There are a great number of record company websites. You should visit these websites to obtain information on record company policies before submitting a demo. Generally, demos aren't returned unless you include a stamped return envelope with sufficient postage. Even if you do not need your demo to be returned, it is a good idea to enclose a stamped return envelope to receive a decision.

There is a good A%26amp;R website called Taxi where, for a fee, you can have your demo reviewed by one or more A%26amp;R Representatives for major and smaller record labels.

Record companies sometimes have scouts for new artists who perform at clubs.

To find entertainment lawyers near you, try the martindale website. Click ';Attorney Search.'; Then enter the information requested. Look for attorneys whose specialty is entertainment or music law. You can search by state or by city. Can Anybody give me some advice or steps on how to get in the music business if they want to be a singer.?
Well, the way you want to do it will get you very poor very fast. If you're going out there just hoping that if you give someone money they will give you an opportunity, then you are just dead wrong. They will take advantage of you, take your money, and leave you with nothing. You need to get yourself in the spotlight. Worry about all that legal and managerial mumbo-jumbo later. Those don't kick in until AFTER you've made a name for yourself. First you need to get noticed. Go around scouting for local events who are scouting for your type of talent. Try to stay away from bars, but do it if there's nothing left. Try out your local performing arts theaters. If you have actual talent, this is the way to go. If you are well-known locally, it will REALLY help if you want to become a national phenom. People that make it big without going through these channels are few and far between. Pretty much the only way to become an instant pop star is to win Idol.
